As of October 5, 2023, the Green Card application process is underway and will run until November 7, 2023. We are pleased to provide you with comprehensive instructions on how to apply for a Green Card and other important details that will ensure your application is successful.

What is a Green Card?

One of the ways to become an American citizen is the Green Card. Get the chance to become a citizen by applying for a 2025 Green Card.

First and foremost, it is imperative to know that applying for a Green Card is absolutely free of charge. There is no need to pay any fees to initiate the process. Beware of advertisements for Green Cards, and refrain from applying through such sites. These websites indiscriminately enter applicants' information into the system, resulting in your application being processed alongside hundreds of others. Consequently, paying money to these fraudulent sites not only diminishes your already slim chance of success, but also exposes you to the risk of being scammed.

The Green Card is an official identity card that confidently grants non-US citizens, including spouses and unmarried children under the age of 21, the ability to legally reside and work in the US. This identity card, also known as the Permanent Resident Card, proudly indicates the immigration status of the card holder.

Regrettably, the current situation in Turkey is dire. Our beloved country is deteriorating with each passing day, and our people are experiencing increasing poverty. Therefore, we are actively seeking new opportunities and renewed hope. One such opportunity lies in the prospect of living and working in America.

How to Apply for a Green Card?

The DVLottery system opens annually during the autumn semester for Green Card applications. Results are typically announced in the summer term, around May-June. Be sure to submit your application solely through the official DVLottery website during the active period.

I have listed the stages of applying for a Green Card for you below:

1. Click on the DV Lottery website, which is the official Green Card application website. https://dvprogram.state.gov/

2. To start your application, confidently click the "Begin Entry" button on the page that appears. For further guidance, refer to the other chapters titled "Instructions." To test your photo, visit "Photo Examples." Remember to upload the correct photo, as it is often the reason for disqualification.

3. To ensure a smooth photo upload process, it is recommended that you check your photo online before uploading it. For an online green card photo check, click here. It's important to note that glasses have not been accepted in photos since November 2016, so be sure to remove them before taking a picture. 4. Firstly, it is important to note that the system does not currently support Turkish characters. However, if your name is Tülay Yiğit, you can simply enter it as "Tulay Yigit". Please ensure that you provide all of the required information, including your name, surname, second name (if applicable), gender, date of birth, address, education level, and marital status. For married applicants, it is important to include information about your spouse and children, if applicable. If you do not have any children, simply indicate "0" for the relevant question. Please note that the email field is particularly important, so be sure to provide a valid email address.

5. Once you have entered all the required information and clicked the Continue button, you will be directed to a page where you can effortlessly review all the provided information. If you notice any errors or incorrect information, you can easily go back and make the necessary corrections. Once you have thoroughly verified that all the information is correct, confidently click the Verify/Confirm button to proceed to the final page where the system will provide you with a confirmation number.

After you complete your application, the system will generate a Confirmation Number. Make a note of this number, save it, and be sure to remember it.

How to Learn Green Card Results?

Once you have applied for a Green Card, rest assured that the results will be announced on the website where you submitted your application. Typically, results are announced during the summer term (May-June) each year. You can easily verify the application result on the official website: https://dvprogram.state.gov.

1. Click to enter the website.

2. Click the "Check Status" button under DV Entrant Status Check.

3. Click the "Continue" button on the new screen that appears.

4. From the newly opened screen, enter your Confirmation Number, Surname, and Year of Birth, respectively. If you cannot reach or remember your confirmation number, you can click "Forgot Confirmation Number" to enter your personal information and access your confirmation number.

From 2016 to 2018, the number of Green Card applications from Turkey experienced a rapid increase. In 2016, there were 245,493 applications, which soared to 406,929 in 2018, marking a 60% rise. These figures indicate a growing desire among our citizens to explore opportunities abroad.
