Are you running Facebook or Instagram ads but never checked your CPA (Cost Per Acquisition)? If not, this article is for you! Today, I'll show you how to reduce your CPA by 50% in Facebook ads.

CPA (Cost Per Acquisition), also known as cost per conversion, is the amount a business pays for each new customer or conversion. Some businesses also call this CAC (Customer Acquisition Cost) and focus solely on new customer acquisition costs. Reducing CPA means acquiring more customers with less cost and provides a significant advantage in digital advertising.

In this article, I'll explain the 5 most effective ways to reduce CPA. With these strategies we've tested practically, we've achieved reductions averaging 50%. Here are the details:

1. Reduce Unnecessary Spending by Choosing the Right Target Audience

Showing your ads to the wrong people causes unnecessary spending and low conversion rates. To prevent this, you need to determine your target audience correctly:

  • Use Lookalike Audiences instead of broad audiences. Create similar audiences based on people who visit your site, view products, or make purchases.

  • Use Remarketing strategies. You can increase conversion rates with ads targeting users who added items to cart but didn't purchase.

  • Take advantage of Advantage+ Audiences feature. Using Facebook's intelligent targeting system, you can achieve better conversions at lower costs.

2. Don't Spend Without Testing Your Ad Creative

Your ad visuals and videos are one of the most important factors directly affecting your CPA. Here's what you need to pay attention to when testing your creatives:

  • Test at least 3-5 different ad creatives (images or videos). Don't rely on a single image or video.

  • Identify top-performing creatives and direct your budget to them.

  • Use formats like Carousel Ads, Video Ads, and Story Ads. Improve user experience with different formats.

  • Keep ad placements broad. You can expand your audience reach by using Facebook's automatic placement settings (Advantage+ Placements).

3. Campaign Optimization to Get Maximum Results with Low Budget

To get more conversions with less budget, you need proper campaign setup:

  • Use CBO (Campaign Budget Optimization). Allow Facebook to automatically manage your campaign budget based on the performance of your ad sets.

  • Decide whether to use daily or lifetime budget. Daily budget works better for short-term tests, while lifetime budget may work better for long-term campaigns.

  • Optimize high-CPA campaigns or create a new campaign. Sometimes creating a new campaign from scratch works better than optimizing poorly performing ones.

4. Use Purchase-Driving Tactics in Ad Copy and Visuals

You can reduce your CPA with more effective ad copy and visuals:

  • Use urgency and limited stock strategies. Motivate users to take action with phrases like "Valid only today!" or "Only 10 products left!"

  • Establish a strong CTA (Call To Action). Use conversion-boosting phrases like "Buy Now" or "Don't Miss Out."

  • Direct the user in text and visuals. Use CTAs not just on buttons but directly on images and videos.

5. Optimize Facebook Pixel and Event Tracking

Facebook Pixel is a critical tool for measuring your ad success. However, if misconfigured, it can unnecessarily increase your CPA. Here's what you need to pay attention to:

  • Verify that your Facebook Pixel is working correctly.

  • Configure Event Prioritization settings correctly.

  • Perform AI-powered optimization using Pixel data.
